To provide a focal point for multi-agency debate with users and carers on primary and secondary mental health services with a view to improving communications, sharing information, evaluation, identifying best practice and action planning and to engage with local networks.
To offer local people the opportunity to identify questions, issues and concerns about local mental health services, which will be addressed and followed through.
To identify gaps and unmet need in mental health services, leading to development proposals and recommendations to the Health Improvement Planning Group, the Local Implementation Teams, the Local Strategic partnership and other relevant bodies, in line with the National Service Frameworks.
To contribute to a locality service plan and monitor progress and implementation.
To receive and comment on relevant consultation documents, disseminate to other relevant parties and feedback to the Forum.
To actively engage in a range of methods of consultation with users and carers, working as far as possible towards their full participation in Forums, and appointment as Chair.
To consider and prioritise appropriate Partnership and all funding applications, working closely with the Primary Care Trust.
To recommend the establishment of task focussed groups.
To encourage full membership of all Forums by all sections of the community. All members are given equal status and access.
To share and engage with members of Forums within the North Surrey area.
To ensure accessibility in terms of plain simple language and freedom from jargon.
